Mobile WiMAX Becoming One of the Mainstream Technologies of Mobile Communication

2007年之前,WiMAX仍然是宽带无线接入技术的主流,移动通信技术领域的配角。由于2007年ITU-R批准WiMAX成为IMT-2000标准,并且随着各国WiMAX频率许可证颁发,以及WiMAX论坛不断制定基于FDD工作方式的新标准,WiMAX正向主流移动通信技术的目标迈进。

Before 2007, WiMAX played an important role in broadband wireless access but a minor role in mobile communication. However, along with WiMAX accepted by ITU-R as a new member of IMT-2000 family in 2007, WiMAX licenses issued in many countries, as well as new standards based on FDD established within WiMAX forum, WiMAX is becoming one of the mainstream technologies of mobile communication.
