近代第一位真正的女数学家:玛丽娅·阿涅西

A Woman Mathematician with a Beautiful Mind——Maria Gaetana Agnesi

1748年阿涅西的著作《分析讲义》出版,其中一条以她名字命名的正矢曲线名扬数坛。她被认为是近代史上能称得上数学家的第一位女性,曾任波伦亚科学院成员及波伦亚大学数学与自然哲学教授。后半生她转向慈善事业,倾其所有扶贫济世。本文简要介绍了她的生平、卓越的数学成就及突出的社会贡献。

In 1748,the works Analytical Institution of Maria Agnesi was published,in which a versed sine curve called by her name was well-known in the circle of mathematics.She was the first woman in modern history who can accurately be called a mathematician,a member of the Bologna Academy of Sciences,also a professor of mathematics and natural philosophy at the University of Bologna.But,she turned to charitable work in her afterlife,spending all her money in helping the poor. This paper briefly reviews her life,excellent achievements in mathematics and outstanding contribution to the society.
