On Philosophy of History of the New Confucians in Song Dynasty

Based on the positive and substantial analysis of the essence and function of the history of new Confucians in Song Dynasty,this paper proposes that new Confucians in Song Dynasty used to do research of history in terms of "Heaven’s Justice" with the characteristic of foreverness,absoluteness and holiness,which is beyond history itself;that human history is at the mercy of "Heaven’s Justice",which denies the development and significance of history;that historical study should be rested on the "presupposition" of "Heaven’s Justice".However,contrary to their opinions that the meaning of historical facts should be explained,what we argue is that the explanation does not come from factors outside,that historical facts should not submit to transcendental moral norms,that history should not be forced into a presupposition framework,and that the positive study of history doesn’t rely on taking "Heaven’s Justice" as a tool.
