本文对学术界关于书院名称始见时间的分歧、关于具有教学功能书院起始时间的分歧、建立在雕版印刷技术发明这一生产力基础上的书院与科举、关于书院发展的阶段和若干里程碑、关于书院办学性质的争议、关于书院办学程度的争议、古代书院有无教授管理、书院"制度"、书院的现代意义等九个问题,提出自己的观点。
