Eileen Chang was one of those writers who had realized the value of the American writer Henry D. Thoreau and his writings, but her introduction of Thoreau and her translation of his poems have been disregarded by Chinese researchers. Her only article about Thoreau and her translation of his three poems reveal her opinion of him, which not only helps us to understand Thoreau and his poems, but also serves as the important reference material of the early studies of Thoreau in China.
