Cowtzee'works is filled with the philosophy introspection about the relation between masters and slaves. In the cultural context of South Africa, that introspection directs mainly to the relation between the self of colonist and the colonial other. Through showing carefully the constant process of colonist'self-copy and imaging the other, analyzing the deformed subjectivity of the other under the one-way perspective angle of the colonist who occupies a commanding position and the indispensable relation between the self of colonist and the colonial other, Coetzee reveals that the features of the colonist's self and colonial other all come from the operation of the power and the construction of the discourse. The target points directly to the philosophy base behind the colonial discourse.
