This thesis analyses the deep meaning of Marry Wilkins Freeman＇ s short story “Revolt” of Mother from a feminist perspective. The short story is about the fight for self-independence and self-emancipation of Sara, a woman of New England in the 19^th century. Through analyzing Sara＇ s successful use of language, Sara＇ s means and ultimate goal of fighting, this thesis aims to explore Freeman＇s feminist thoughts, especially the balance between women＇s rebellion and intersexual harmony.
