This thesis analyses the deep meaning of Marry Wilkins Freeman' s short story “Revolt” of Mother from a feminist perspective. The short story is about the fight for self-independence and self-emancipation of Sara, a woman of New England in the 19^th century. Through analyzing Sara' s successful use of language, Sara' s means and ultimate goal of fighting, this thesis aims to explore Freeman's feminist thoughts, especially the balance between women's rebellion and intersexual harmony.
