Obesity and metabolic syndrome have become major hazardous factors to human health. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors （PPARs） are ligand-activated transcription factors and belong to the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily. The three subtypes of PPARs, PPARα, PPARβ/δ and PPARγ, play a key role in the regulation of lipid and glucose metabolism. PPARγ is a key regulator in the gene expression and signal transduction of adipocytes.
