摘要
西方的文化研究对大众文化的态度经历了一个从负面评价到正面评价的过程。西方的大众文化理论并不完全适用于中国的大众文化研究。在中国独特的历史和现实语境中,大众文化显示了独特的性质和功能,即非完全的商品性、受限制的大众性、初步的文化民主性、有限的政治性。它们构成中国的大众文化研究的起点。
The evaluation toward popular culture experienced a change from negative attitude to positive one in western countries. But their theory of popular culture can not completely apply to the culture of China. In the particular historical and realistic circumstance of China, popular culture showed its peculiar characteristic and function, namely, incomplete commerciality, restricted popularity, elementary democracy and limited polities. All of those constitute the foundation of popular culture research in China.
