摘要
Song XiuyanIn January 2005, Song Xiuyan was selected as governor of Qinghai Province in southwest China, making her the sole female provincial governor in China, and only the second female governor since the foundation of the People's Republic of China. Born in Tianjin in 1955, Song only received a junior school educational background, but rose to prominence in the China Communist Youth League (CCYL) after her family moved to Qinghai, where she became a senior official at age 28. However, not everything has been smooth sailing: following a failed bid to become secretary of the CCYL in Qinghai, she was sent to remote Haidong county to work as a vice secretary general. She has evidently learned from this setback, as her star has been rising ever since.
