Reinforced retaining walls have been widely used in road and water engineering for its convenience in construction, saving in raw material, less construction site demand and so on. The paper analyzes the friction reinforcement theory and quasi cohesive strength mechanism, on the basis of which the design requirements of reinforced retaining walls are introduced with an engineering case given to demonstrate it. In a word,the paper is worthy to be referred for the design of reinforced retaining walls.
