Returning to Tradition:Value Analysis of the 1970s Generation

近30年的改革开放将我们带入一个文化价值多元、社会竞争凸显、信息传播迅速的现代社会。青年人在享受物质成果的同时,却被赋予精神缺损的名号:缺乏信仰与理想、自私自利、没有责任感、冷漠、不合群、随波逐流、似是而非等等。众所周知,青年期是人生中充满困惑、矛盾、压抑与风暴的时期,纷繁多元的精神表现实属正常,而最后的价值取向才更为重要。本文选取了改革开放以来第一代成熟的年轻人——70一代作为样本,分析认为,主导他们的思想观念出现回归传统的趋向。

Three decades of reform and opening up to the outside world has taken us to a modern society characterized by cultural diversity, fierce competition and rapid information proliferation. While enjoying the material comforts, the young generation is labeled as being devoid of faith, ideal and the sense of responsibility, being selfish and self-centered, indifferent and unsociable, following the trend blindly, and so on. As is known to all, youth is a stage in life beset with bewilderment, contradiction, repression, paradox and turmoil. It is, therefore, quite normal for them to have manifold and colorful spiritual manifestations. What is of paramount importance is the ultimate value orientation. This essay takes the first mature generation after the reform policy, i.e. the 1970s generation as a sample, arrives at the conclusion that their dominant state of mind is showing a tendency of going back to the tradition.
