常回家看看

Go Home Often

有首歌很流行,叫“常回家看看”。对于常回家这件事，我想也许只是针对个别的时代吧。回家是件美妙的事,但是有时,只是有时,你不得不考虑一下花很大的精力回家是否值得。很多年前,我还是个学生，每年回家三次,每次回家都要坐25到26小时的火车,其中要倒三次车,或者坐12个小时的通宵巴士外加第二天一整天的火车。就这样还不算完,还得搭个便车把剩下的5英里走完才能真正进到村子里回到家。因此过去我常常认为回家是一件不那么令人开心的事情,

＂Go home often＂ goes the song but maybe that is from a different age. Going home is a wonderful thing but sometime, just sometimes, you have to wonder if it is really worth all the effort involved. When I was a student, so many years ago, I had to travel home three times a year and each time involved a 25-26 hour＇train journey with three changes of train or a 12 hour overnight bus journey and another whole day on the train - either way ending up with trying to hitch a for the last five miles out into the countryside. I used to think that was less than pleasant until I had a discussion with some of my students about their journeys home especially those who come from places in the south of China.
