From the Construction of Differences to the Acceptance of Values:An Introduction to the Anthropology of Sex

性人类学主要针对部落社会以及其他技术不发达的非西方文化中的性实践进行系统的描述和分析,关注的主要是生物的、心理的因素和产生性爱冲动、性吸引以及某种特定性行为的文化因素之间的互动关系,研究的要旨在于说明人类性生活方式的差异从一开始就存在,性的含义取决于特定文化及社会情景的塑造,人们附加在某种性行为偏好上的意义都是由社会和文化赋予的。人类学家对异域社会性实践的考察建构了一种文化差异,为的是让人们找到反省自我社会性实践的机会,从而做出建设性的自我批评。

The anthropology of sex aims to give a systematic description and analysis of the sexual practice in the tribal societies and other backward non - Western cultures. It focuses on biological and psychological factors and the cultural interaction between some sexual impulses, attraction and specific sexual practices. It aims at proving that the differences between human sexual acts emerged from the very beginning, the significance of sex is determined by the specific cultures and societies which in turn determine human preference for some sexual acts. The study of the sexual practice of other societies by anthropologists has constructed a cultural difference which can mirror the differences and similarities of one′s own society before making a constructive self-criticism.
