The Appellative Functions and Grammatical Traits of the Personal Pronouns in Chinese and Thai

汉泰人称代词无论在称谓功能方面,还是在语法意义上都是差异性大于共同性。泰语人称代词中的谦敬称谓较丰富,泰语人称代词的选用必须严格遵循势位原则。汉语人称代词有并不完善的谦敬称谓。泰语人称代词的语法意义比汉语丰富得多。

This paper aims at studying personal pronouns in modem Chinese and modem Thai and their appellative functions and gram-matical traits, and concludes that their differences are more obvious than their similarities. There are more respectful personal pronouns in the Thai language whose selection follows strict rules with richer grammatical meanings.
