Culture Schemata and Cultural Adaptation

图式是表征人类一般知识的认知结构,由从个体先前所不断经历的环境或事件中抽取出的信息构成。在跨文化交际中,文化图式是便利或阻碍跨文化交际活动的重要因素之一,文化适应的各个阶段均可以由文化图式的特有性质做出合理的解释。文化适应的过程并不以本民族文化的损失为代价,跨文化交际培训应当本着求同存异的基本指导思想进行。

Schema is a cognitive flame or script, consisting of general or abstract knowledge of the world. Culture schema plays a significant role in either facilitating or hindering the process of cross-cultural communication. Phenomena arising from the different stages of a cultural adaptation process can be effectively explained by the unique characteristics of the culture schemata. The process of cultural adaptation is by no means on the expense of the natal culture loss. The notion of seeking commonalities and accepting differences shall be strengthened throughout cross-cultural communication training programs.
