The excavation at the Diaojian site reveals cultural remains affiliated with two cultural periods: Neolithic and Western Zhou, respectively. Neolithic materials include artifacts recovered from a number of Qujialing and Shejiahe earthen-pit burials and urn burials. The burial goods consist of bas- in-shaped ding, pot with a wide mouth, dou and cup, all with archaeological features of local traditions. Archaeological features from the western Zhou remains are mainly ash-pits hui-keng and ash-trenches hui-gou. The combination of vessels including ding and li indicate the dates of these materials to be the middle and late of the western Zhou dynasty.
