文章从语言和文化的不可分割性出发,用王初明教授补缺假说原理论证了文化背景知识在大学非英语专业听力教学中的重要作用,进而阐述了怎样补缺英语文化背景知识。

Language importance of and its culture are inseparable. Based on this fact, the authors have dealt with the English cultural knowledge in promoting the listening comprehension of non-English majors in colleges and universities by using Professor Wang Chuming＇ s Compensation Hypothesis. Furthermore, how to make a compensation for English cultural knowledge of the students is also discussed in the paper.
