The Ethical Message of Science

科学作为人类智慧之极致,一直都和伦理道德紧密联系。一方面,科学改造着人本身;另一方面,人的道德力量也推动着科学。科学作为一项神圣的事业,从来都内在地包含着人类的辛勤劳作、正义和理性的发扬光大,以及科学家的无私奉献和高度的社会责任感,以致科学主要是以一种真、善、美的面目出现在人类社会的各个领域。使科学家与社会道义融为一体,既推动着科学,也完善着人格、人性和道德。

Science, the ultimate maximum of human wisdom, is always closely in contact with ethics. For one thing, humankind makes differences per se through science. For another, ethical power of humankind propels the progress of science. Science, being a divine undertaking, always intrinsically involves human labors, greater heights of justice and reason, altruistic dedication and social conscience on the part of scientists. Therefore the general impression holds that truthfulness, goodness and beauty feature prominently in science. On the part of scientists, the integrity with social fairness not only facilitates the progress of science, but also brings personality, humanness and morality to perfection.
