This paper is a reading of Pascal Schōning's The Manifesto for A Cinematic Architecture. Through tracing the relation between his own experience and formation of his conception of architecture, the paper tries to understand the main issues of the "cinematic architecture", the formulation of its concepts, and the approach to achieve it, and tries to argue that the "cinematic architecture" in Pascal's definition is not about representational and referential relationship between film and architecture."Cinematic" here indicates a concept of architecture, which concerns perceptual and psychological effect in the process of "dematerialisation".
