The large-sized rammed-earth building foundations of the middle Taosi culture (numbered IFJT3) lie in the northeast within the larger city of the middle Taosi culture namely in the southeast of the smaller city of the early Taosi culture. The foundation pit is roughly square and covers an area above 10,000 sq m, each side measuring about 100 m. In the center of the foundations, a little to the east, the remains of a unit of pole net that represent the main hall were found to face right to the southwest with an azimuth of about 225° and to occupy an area of 286.7 sq m with a length of 23.5 m from the west to the east and a width of 12.2 m from the north to the south. The remaining 18 pole pits are arranged in three rows and measure 50-80 cm and 45-50 cm in the diameter of outer and inner circumstances respectively, and the remaining depth is about 30-40 cm. Each pit contains in the bottom a plinth (about 30 cm in diameter) made of one or more pebbles.
