Methodology of Natural Sciences and Establishment of Linguistic Theory

本文是对司富珍《语言研究中的科学方法》一文的回应。司文主要是通过把乔姆斯基理论与自然科学的简单比附,为其进行辩护,但是司文的论据既未准确反映科学发展的史实,又有悖于科学理论建设的程序,同时也不符合科学研究的方法。本文主要目的是讨论语言学理论的建设如何从自然科学研究实践中得到启示。

This article is a reply to Si Fuzhen＇ s paper ＂Scientific Methodology in Linguistic Research＂. Si Fuzhen has defended Chomsky＇ s linguistic theory merely through drawing a forced analogy between the theory and natural sciences. However, Si＇s analysis does not reflect historical evidence, does not follow regular procedures of establishment of sciences, and does not observe methodology of sciences. My paper mainly discusses how to apply scientific methodology to linguistic research.
