China's seaborne trade represented about 9% of world seaborne cargo transportation in 2007.The boom in trade,which has made the country the world's largest manufacturing centre,has had an enormous impact on the fortunes of many shipowners.Any changes which happen to Chinese international trade can only continue to have a significant impact on the demand side of the shipping market.
