Evaluation of the construction of AIDS voluntary counseling and testing network in Xiaoshan district

目的研究基层艾滋病自愿咨询检测(VCT)的适宜模式。方法构建VCT网络,设置36个VCT门诊,统一培训咨询员,规范咨询方法流程。收集萧山区VCT网络建设以来,2006年1月至2007年6月份的VCT咨询个案登记表进行统计分析。结果网络建设后VCT数量较2005年有较大幅度的上升,阳性检出人数也相应增多。VCT的形式:面对面咨询486(45.04%),以疾控中心和计生指导站为主;集体VCT593(54.96%),以社区卫生服务中心和监狱为主。结论在基层广泛设置VCT网络有助于早期发现艾滋病感染者,根据VCT门诊特色进行合适的选址和采用合适的形式可增强VCT的效果。

Objective The study was conducted to explore the appropriate mode of primary AIDS voluntary counseling and testing （VCT）. Methods An AIDS voluntary counseling and testing （VCT） network, with 36 established VCT clinics, unified training of consultants and standardized consultation process, was constructed in this area. Registration forms for VCT individuals since the establishment of this VCT network in Xiaoshan district, January, 2006, till June, 2007 were collected for statistical analysis. Results After the construction of VCT network, the number of VCT cases had greatly increased compared with 2005. The number of positive cases also increased. Forms of VCT included： face-to-face consultation： 486 （45.04%）, mostly performed in CDCs and birth control centers; group VCT： 593 （54.96%）, mostly in community health service centers or prisons. Conclusion Extensive grass-roots VCT network may facilitate the early detection of HIV infection. Suitable location of VCT clinics and appropriate forms of VCT adopted according to the characteristics of VCT can enhance the effect of VCT.
