On the Relation between the Chinese Newspapers and the Chinese Communities in the Philippines

菲律宾华人社区历史悠久,形态完备,在海外华人社区中具有很强的代表性。菲华报刊与菲华社区的发展关系密切。菲华报刊在一个多世纪的发展中,维护华社利益,引导华社路向,建构社区文化,强化精神归属,把这个由移民构成的菲华社区联结、整合在一起,统一着人们的认知和趣味,在社区传播基础结构中发挥着至关重要的作用。通过对菲华报刊的发展与菲华社区社区发展的关系研究,我们会更加深刻地理解社区与大众传媒二者之间的依存关系。

The Chinese commmdties in the Philippines, with a long history and perfect organization are a good example the Chinese communities in the overseas. The Chinese newspapers in the Philippines have played a very important role in the development of Chinese communities by safeguarding their benefits, guiding the direction, constructing the community culture, strengthening the home spirit of the ethnic Chinese and unifying the people in their communities. In examining the relation between the mass media and the development of the Chinese communities in the Philippines, we can understand better the inter-dependant relation between the community and the mass media.
