浅析汉诗英译的时态处理

Tense Issue in English Translation of Chinese Poems

文章从功能语法的角度探讨汉诗英译过程中的时态处理。汉英两种语言中的时态存在差异,这种差异影响了汉诗英译的表达效果。作者主要从三个方面探讨译者需注意的问题:现在时和过去时两者皆可用时的效果区别,诗中有明确时态限制时如何处理以及诗句中的引述语的时态处理。作者最后提出结论:汉诗英译中时态处理的主要出发点是语言形式和修辞方面对语言表达的效果。

Guided by functional grammatical theory, the author in this paper firstly pinpoints the difference of tenses between Chinese and English as well as its effect in translation of Chinese poems, and then reminds us of three major issues worth of attention in the course of translating： 1. how to recover the difference when both the present and the past tenses are available. 2. how to tackle the tense when it is limited in the original version and 3. how to deal with tenses in quotes. And to cerns are the language forms and rhetorical devices when sum up, the author suggests that our two major con-facing tense choices.
