Guiding Principle for Metaphor Translation between Chinese and English

隐喻翻译的研究从微观到宏观层面经历了不断深入的过程,而其翻译实践中,译者常遇到的难题是碰到富含特定文化背景内涵的隐喻时,应该采取何种翻译策略。本文尝试从各种观点中理顺思路,结合翻译实例分析,找出中英隐喻互译的原则,指导其翻译实践。

The Research on metaphor translation, both from specific and general perspective, has gone into deeper vision. And the translation of metaphor in practice often encounters great difficulty especially in rendering metaphors which are culture specific. Under this circumstance, what kind of strategy a translator should adopt has become concern of scholars. This paper attempts to refer to related research and translation case so as to find out some guiding principles in translating metaphor between Chinese and English, which is conducive to translation prectice.
