Based on the retrieval of literature published since 1980, the present situation of instrumental analysis methods used for the determination of inorganic elements in tea is reviewed, with the following methods emphasized： spectrophotometry, atomic absorption spectrometry, atomic fluorescence spectrometry, X- ray fluorescence spectrometry, inductively coupled plasma-atomic emission spectrometry, inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry and neutron activation analysis.
