摘要
城市双语公示语是一个城市国际化文明程度的重要标志。义乌城市公共场所公示语英译中存在的众多翻译失误现象，与国际化商贸名城的形象极不协调。公示语错误现象主要有单词问题、中式英语、译名不统一及告示效果不佳的翻译。原因主要有制作人员粗制滥造、翻译人员英语语用能力低下和没有监督机制。改进对策为在一定时期内建立开放、完善的修正体系、加强公众的舆论监督及组建一支专业的公示语翻译队伍。
Public signs are important symbols for a city＇ s internationalization civilization. The incorrect public signs are not in harmony with Yiwu city＇ s development to an international trade city. The incorrect and crude public signs include incorrect words, Chinese English, different English translations for one Chinese sign and ineffective translations. The producers＇ crudely work, the translators＇ poor ability in language as well as a lack of supervision mechanism are the main reasons. Measures for better public signs are to set up an open revision system, strengthen public supervision and form a branch of public signs translators.
