Vocabulary teaching is playing an important part in language acquisition. How to enhance vocabulary memory is a significant aspect of vocabulary teaching and learning. As an important branch of psychology , cognitive psychology focuses on memory , that is , the storage and retrieval of information. Based on the popular cognitive theories and relevant research in SLA as well as the real learning situation in China, the vocabulary memory strategies are explored from new perspectives in an attempt to find out effective means to strengthen vocabulary memory so as to improve vocabulary teaching and learning and further promote learners＇ vocabulary acquisition.
