Unification of Asian Economy that Lacks a Unified Institutional Framework

在全球化通过区域层次实现的背景下,近两年在亚洲频繁涌现的各种形式的FTA(自由贸易协定)被认为是推动该地区实现区域经济一体化的重要新举措。然而,由于统一制度框架的缺乏,这些贸易协定安排却呈现出一体化和分解同时并存的双向过程,使得泛区域层次的一体化在短期内很难实现。

Under circumstances of actualizing globalization through regions, various types of FTAs signed in Asia in the past two years are considered measures to promote unification of regional economy. However, due to absence of an institutional framework for unification, these FTAs appear to show the dual directions of unification and decomposition. Consequently, unifica- tion at the regional level may not be realized in a near future.
