摘要
介绍了一种新的能实现反射-透射可调的液晶显示器件制作技术,它是由相变型宾主(PCGH)效应层和一聚合物分散液晶(PDLC)层直接结合构成的。当施加的电压增加时,PCGH层首先被驱动,而PDLC由于需要更高的阈值电压没有被驱动,仍保留散射态,它充当散光板的作用,因此可获得一黑白的反射显示态。当施加足够高的电压时,不仅PCGH层被驱动,而且PDLC层也能被驱动,于是PDLC对光的散射能力被消除,可获得一透射显示态。结果表明,两态显示都能实现适宜的对比度,具有高亮度,宽视角的显示。
A novel technique for fabricating an adjustable reflective- transparent liquid crystal display device is presented The technique is based on the combination of a phase-change type guest host(PCGH) mode layer with one polymer dispersed liquid crystal(PDLC) film directly As the applied voltage is increased, the PCGH layer can be driven first, while the PDLC film still remains light scattering because of its higher threshold voltage, it acts as a light scattering plate, and a reflective dark-white state can be acquired; as the applied voltage is high enough, not only the PCGH layer but also the PDLC film can be driven, then light scattering properties of the PDLC film are diminished, and a transparent state can be obtained Results show that both states can be obtained with suitable contrast ratio, high brightness and wide viewing angle displays
