李大钊担任《晨报》副刊总编时,利用《晨报》副刊这一主阵地,大力介绍、宣传马克思主义和工人运动,增设《晨报》副刊栏目、改革《晨报》副刊办刊方针,刊发各类新文学作品、大力扶持文学新人,为"五四"新文化运动摇旗呐喊,并进行了不菲的文学创作,因此而与鲁迅、毛泽东、陈毅等人结下了深厚的友情。

When acting as the general editor of The Morning Post Supplement, Li Dazhao endeavored to vigorously introduce and propagate Marxism and the Workers Movement. Moreover, besides his prolific literary creation, he strove to campaign for ＂The May 4th＂ Neocuhure Movement by regulating the operation of The Morning Post Supplement by carrying in the paper various new literary works and by energetically sup- porting greenhorns in literary creation, thus having established a profound friendship with Lu Xun, Mao Zedong, Chen Yi etc.
