There is a close relationship of origin between the classifier ＂peng＂ in Wanning dialect and the character ＂peng＂ in ancient Chinese. This paper attempts to outline various uses of ＂peng＂ in Wanning Dialect, analyzing its birth and development and making textual research in terms of its phonetic traits so as to reveal its features and regular pattern.
