Some Opinions on Liangzhou in Yugong

《禹贡》梁州为各种九州说所仅见,过去顾颉刚先生以此推断《禹贡》必是战国时代的著作,认为古蜀文化是独立发展的,直至春秋战国间蜀国始与中原发生关系,待秦灭蜀后《禹贡》才得以蜀境为梁州。从现在新发现的出土文献看,这些说法虽仍有可取之处,但也存在着严重缺陷,特别是把九州的名词及其具体的说明看做是战国时人的一次性建设,即与《容成氏》九州先于《禹贡》出现的事实相悖。

Liangzhou in Yugong was only recorded in many thoughts of Jiuzhou （Nine States）, by which GU Jie-gang judged that Yugong was written in Warring States Period. And he thought that the culture of ancient Shu （Sichuan） had developed independently before the period of Spring and Autumn and Warring States when Shu got in touch with central China, and that after Shu is conquered by Qin, which waw recorded in Yugong as Liangzhou. From the documents unearthed recently, we could see that the thoughts mentioned above have redeeming features and defects. Especially the thought that the word of Jiuzhou and its explanation Jiuzhou in Rong Cheng Shi appeared before Yugong.
