摘要
阅读是提高英语水平的重要途径,许多国内外语言学家的研究表明,大量阅读有助于提第二语言能力。那么,作为课堂学习的延续,课外英语阅读是否对中国大学生英语能力的提高有所帮助呢?他们对英语课外阅读有什么看法,他们的英语课外阅读现状有如何呢?本文以电子科技大学成都学院50名非英语专业一年级学生为调查对象,采用问卷、测试和访谈等研究方法,调查分析了非英语专业学生的课外阅读观念、策略以及英语课外阅读与英语水平的关系,从而对大学英语课外阅读提出一点自己的看法。
Reading is an essential way to improve English proficiency. Researches conducted by a number of domestic and foreign linguists show that large amount of reading can help to improve the ability of second language learning. So, whether after-class reading can help to improve Chinese non-English majors' English proficiency? What are their beliefs toward after-class reading? How well they do in their after-class reading? This paper reports an empirical study on the after-class reading activities of non-English majors from Chengdu College, UESTC. The subjects were first-year non-English majors and the instruments include a questionnaire, a reading test and interview. In this paper, particular study was given to: the students' after-class reading beliefs, their after-class reading strategies and the relationship between after-class reading and English Proficiency. The author intends to give her own suggestions to non-English majors after-class reading.
