With rutin as reference substance,we have made use of column chromatography sepectrophotometry to determine the contents of total flavonoids in Alpinia officinarum Hance of different areas and growth period.The result indicated that the contents of total flavonoids in Alpinia officinarum Hance in areas of Zhanjiang and Shantou were higher than in area of Meizhou,and the contents of total flavonoids in Alpinia officinarum Hance increases along with the growth period increase.But the contents of total flavonoids were almost constant in collecting period.
