The effect of Bifidobacterium bifidum(Bif1101)and its lipoteichoic acid(LTA),whole cell peptidoglycan(WPG) on the murine fecal bacterial enzymes, β-glucuronidase,azoreductase,nitrate reductase activities had been investigated. All the tested Bif1101 related materials appeared significant suppression on the bacterial enzymes involoved in the transformation and activation of carcinogens during 3 weeks ingestion. The viable and dead Bif1101 whole cells appeared more effective than that of LTA and WPG. No significant difference was found batween viable and dead Bif1101.
