After reviewing genetic data on nearly 4,000 Europeans,British researchers announced their discoveries in early 2007:they had found a common variant in a gene known as FTO was significantly associated with obesity. However,CAS researchers now claim that this is not the case for Chinese Han people,a huge ethnic group indigenous to China, making up of about 19% of the human population.
