Application programs need to contact and communicate reciprocally in Windows. OLE, serving as such an automatic server, would provide the interface to drive programs. The real value of OLE means a set of standards, which integrate development tools with application programs such as Word or Excel. With running Ex- cel and Matlab as examples, the principle and application of OLE have been studied in this paper. A reference method is introduced to programmers in practical software projects.
