摘要
周贻白是一位颇具草根色彩的戏曲史家,他靠自学成材,有着十分丰富的艺术实践,将草根特性转化为自己的学术优势和特色。其学术个性鲜明,比较重视通观的研究,撰有多部戏曲史著作。在具体研究中,他对戏曲艺术的各个组成要素皆给予较为充分的关注,特别是舞台演出和花部戏曲,所还原的戏曲史是一部立体的戏曲史。在戏曲文献学方面,他不仅十分关注,而且也有着自己独到的研究和贡献,这些研究和贡献包括戏曲典籍的整理、目录的编制、戏曲文物的研究以及戏曲本事的考索。
This paper seeks to assess Zhou Yi-bai's scholarly achievement in the study of Chinese theatre history. As a self-made specialist, his strength lies in his rich experience in practicing the art that is the subject of his study. His pays particular attention to performance and the "promiscuous" schools of traditional operas in his comprehensive studies, which seek to examine various elements of the art form. In the field of theatre philology, his unique contributions include compilations of drama classics, categorizations, and archeological and antiquarian enquiries into theatre relics and data.
