This article focuses on the application of the schema theory in college English reading. It explores the schema theory and the activation of schema, and in the meantime analyzes the effect of the schema theory on reading comprehension, accordingly clarifying the significance of accumulating background information and enriching formal schema in the ＂Advance Organizing＂ teaching mode.
