The Largest Rhyming Dictionary in the World: Pei Wen Yun Fu

文章对清代最大的韵书《佩文韵府》作了评价。前一部分简要地叙述了中国韵书的发展历程,以说明《佩文韵府》对前代韵书的继承关系。后一部分评述《佩文韵府》成书的过程和基本的内容,并将其功用同《康熙字典》作了比较;最后连带介绍了《佩文韵府》的派生物,即各种小型韵书。

This paper comments on the largest rhyming dictionary in the Qing Dynasty Pei Wen Yun Fu. The paper falls into two parts： the first part presents a brief account of the development process of rhyming dictionaries in China so as to demonstrate how Pei Wen Yun Fu has carried forward the tradition of its predecessors; the second part is a commentary on the formation process of and on the basic contents of Pei Wen Yun Fu and a comparison between Pei Wen Yun Fu and Kanxi Dictionary in their functions, followed by an analysis of the derivatives of the former： various small rhyming dictionaries.
