Building of Towns and the Diplomacy between Song Dynasty and Liao Dynasty

澶渊之盟中宋辽两国就边境城池的修筑达成了一些协议,但是由于辽统治者南下掠夺的本性不会改变,所以北宋时期,双方围绕北宋在河北和河东地区城池的修筑活动,进行了多次的交涉,从这些交涉中可以看出北宋在盟约问题上的灵活性。

In the Chanyuan covenant made by Song- Liao countries, the two sides reached some protocols on the building of towns on their borderlands. But as the real nature of Liao＇ s ruler＇ s for going south to grab did not change, two sides negotiated many times on the activities of north Song Dynasty building towns in the region of Hebei and Hedong at the period of north Song dynasty . From these negotiations, we can know the flexibility of north Song Dynasty on covenant problems.
