《金瓶梅》包含深层和表层两个意义世界层面。表层意义世界,几乎涵盖了作品所有的现实空间和人物,并为俗浊的原始欲求所笼罩,它以西门府为中心,体现着"浊"、"淫"、"假"等特色;处于深层的意义世界,有与大观园相近的"清"、"情"、"真"等共性,但未形成类似于大观园的鲜明自立的独特空间或区域。这个深层的意义世界不断对处于表层的意义世界产生超越,此种超越主要体现在作者的价值取向和使表层意义世界的故事、场面、人物发生意义的异质变化等方面。

The book Jin Ping Mei has two worlds： the underlining world and the surface world. The surface world involves all the realities and characters and is full of worldly desires, which, centered around House of Ximen, embodies confusions, passions, emptiness, while in the underlining world, lie the order, the love, the truth similar to those in the Panorama, which has not formed its special space and circle. This underlining world never stops transcending over the surface world. This transcendence is shown on the author＇s value standards and the change of stories, background, characters in the surface world.
