Virginia Woolf and Sylvia Plath are two celebrated women writers in contemporary western literary history. In fact, Sylvia Plath had been greatly influenced by Virginia Woolf＇s idea of killing the Angel in the House in order to cast off the traditional role of women. She was encouraged to become a woman writer who would actively display women＇s life and thoughts so as to help the development of women＇s literature, but her efforts finally made her end up like Virginia Woolf in the war against the Angel. This proves the persecution of women writers by patriarchal cultural hegemony represented by the Angel and further illustrates the significance of Woolf＇s ideas.
