Objective To investigate the relationship between the sensitivity of finger tactility and the successful rate of superficial venipuncture,so as to improve the venipuncture successful rate. Methods The more sensitive fingers were identified by comparing the sensitivities of veins between the thumbs and the index fingers in 204 subjects. A total of 144 trainees were randomized into experimental group (n=72, received finger tactile training) and control group ( n=72, received routine teaching). The successful rates of venipuncture were compared between the 2 groups. Results The venipuncture successful rate was significantly higher in trainees of the experimental group who received finger tactile training than in those of the control group (P〈0.05). Conclusion It is concluded that the skin sensitivity of finger tactility can be developed by finger tactile training, and therefore improve the successful rate of venipuncture.
