“Australia＇s National Security： A Defence Update 2007” released on July 52007 descrihes Australia＇s strategic environment, its capability construction of national defence, and its relationship with partners and friends in the region. It details the tasks of Australia＇s defence force in the 21st century, and pays close attention to China＇s emergence as a major market and driver of economic activity regionally and globally. It shows that Australia has obviously strengthened its construction of defence force capability. “Australia＇s National Security： A Defence Update 2007” gives an outline of Australia＇ s national defence strategy under the new regional and global situation, from which we can get a general view of Australia＇s understanding of the world security environment, its defence policy framework and its future foreign policies towards the major powers in the world.
