清代最具觉醒意识、灵襟独抱的女词人吴藻在传统等级秩序的压抑下陷入了所适非偶、无情有恨的不幸婚姻,要求个性解放冲破传统束缚的她用词曲作品向严酷的制度发出了控诉和抗争,但以失败告终,无奈绝望之余选择皈依佛门来了却她丰富而悲苦的一生。

Wu Zao is an intellectually gifted woman poet who has the most awakened consciousness in Qing Dynasty. She married a man who she never loved and fell into unsatisfied marriage because of the traditional social system, which made her life filled in more sufferings than love and happiness. The woman poet advocates liberalism and tries her best to break through the spawn of feudalism, but fails at last. With helplessness and hopelessness she sets herself in Buddhism to accomplish her seriously unfortunate life.
