The Source Tracing Story and Development of "Killing Sister-in-Law" in the Classic Chinese Novel of "Water Margin"

学术界关于《水浒》中武松、石秀杀嫂所本《南史》潘妃事与元末潘元绍弟兄事二说,自有其联系和渊源,决不应是对抗之说,但小说之本事及溯源与历史考证自有区别。从小说讲,武松、石秀之"杀嫂"值得关注的是其性质和人物性格之表现,而文坛对《水浒》杀嫂故事的演绎亦正体现了思想的解放以及对人物性格表现的探索,显示出这类作品"世代累积"的创作轨迹。

The arguments that Panfei's(Concubine Pan)affair in 'Nan History' and Pan Yuanshao and his brother's affair in Yuan dynasty are the basis for the stories of 'killing sister-in-law' by Wusong and Shixiu respectively in the classic Chinese novel 'Water Margin' are interrelated,rather than confronting,and can be traced to the source.However,the original story of the 'killing sister-in-law' and its source tracing are different from historical research.In terms of the viewpoint of a novel,when it comes to the different stories of 'killing sister-in-law',it is the properties of the story and the manifestation of the concerned personalities that are remarkable and worth attention.The development of the 'killing sister-in-law' story embodies the liberal thoughts as well as the search for the different personality depiction,therefore showing the writing track of generations accumulated in the development of such works.
